KILN FIRING SERVICES IN SAN FRANCISCO'S WEST SIDE
Do you work with clay but have no kiln access? I've got two kilns and I offer firing services.
"Patsy Cline" is my Skutt 1018. She's been with me for about 15 years and she's a tried and true medium sized 4.6 cu.ft. electric kiln. Patsy is available for bisque firings, cone 05 glaze firings, and cone 6 glaze firings. Patsy's interior dimensions are 18" deep and 23" wide. Pricing depends on whether you choose per shelf, half kiln, or full kiln.
"Baby" is my Olympic Test Kiln. She's a little whipper snapper, great for 1-2 mugs (depending on size), firing itty bitty pieces (ceramic jewelry!) and glaze tests. Baby is available for bisque firings, cone 05 glaze firings, and cone 6 glaze firings. Baby can accept pieces up to 7" tall and 7" wide. I have little shelves and posts for Baby and she can actually hold more than you might think.
How Clay Wrangler Kiln Firing Works:
I fire my kilns when they're full. Wait time may be up to 2 weeks or more for your firing to be completed. However, my kiln isn't huge so the wait usually isn't very long. Wait time depends on the amount of ware you want fired and how dry your pieces are at drop-off. We'll arrange a time that works for both of us for drop off and pick-up at my Central Sunset studio in San Francisco. All items should arrive in a box labeled clearly with your name. Please wrap items individually with paper or bubble wrap. Your box and wrapping materials will be used to wrap your pieces again after the firing for pickup. See "terms & conditions" below...

Terms & Conditions:
I will load and fire your work. As potters, we understand that ceramic ware, especially greenware, has the potential for breakage. I will load all work with the utmost care, however, I am not responsible for firing results. Please pack your fragile greenware carefully!
BISQUE FIRING: I bisque to cone 05. No wild clay allowed.
GLAZE FIRING: Know your clay body and glaze and clarify this with me at drop off. I don't allow mystery clays and glazes in my kiln. No wild clay allowed.
I can glaze fire at cone 05 (low fire) or cone 6 (mid fire). All glazed ware must have a "dry foot" (no glaze on the bottom of your pieces). No stilts.
Glazed pieces need a bisque "coaster" underneath them. If you don't bring these I can sell them to you for $2 each. Multiple objects under 2" need to be on a bisque "firing tray". Please understand that your piece may fuse to the coaster/firing tray if you use a runny or unpredictable glaze. Know your glazes.
You are responsible for the replacement/repair of any equipment damaged during firing.
Payment:
Payment is due prior to firing. I'll accept Venmo or cash. You can cancel your firing any time before you drop off your work. I reserve the right to refuse to fire any work.
I don't accept the following:
Wild Clay
Anything thicker than 1"
Paper, glass, metal, wood
Glazed greenware
Pieces that might explode during firing (hollow forms with trapped air)
